In Aubeterre, on the river Dronne, the "educational pool" (mare pédagogique) shows the ecosystem of a pool.10 meters large windows overlook the inside of the pool, and a network of 4 pools show 4 stages in the evolution of a pool.

Living History in La Rochefoucauld castle

In La Rochefoucauld, children can dress up for a visit of the castle... 80 costumes and accessories are at their disposal to transform themselves into a knight or a princess !
Built on a previous fortress (1026), the castle is a collection of seven centuries of architectural styles. It has been the family La Rochefoucauld home for over 1000 years. During the visit, you will discover the monumental Renaissance staircase, Marguerite de Valois' boudoir, the castle's kitchen, the ceremony rooms, the guard's room, the 18th century library, the 16th century galeries.

Regional specialties

In Trois Palis, the chocolate factory Letuffe is open for guided tours. Open all year round (on previous booking from September 1st to May 31st).
One week before Easter, on Palm Sunday, you will taste the "cornuelles" ! These triangular biscuits are sprinkled with aniseed and have a hole in their center : in the old times, they were slipped onto a boxwood stick for blessing in the church. In Villebois-Lavalette, a fair is dedicated to them on Palm Sunday ; it takes place in the 17th century covered market.
